![]() ![]() I can’t really talk about the story in depth, since it’s all in Japanese, but I’m still interested in knowing what it’s about. One thing interesting about FBBs is that if you have a downed/KO’d sub-unit, activating your FBB recovers your sub-unit from the downed state. Some quests have branching paths, incentivizing a second go-around.īFR’s FBBs are still a clusterfuck of graphics, just like in the good old days. Some stages within quests have a straightforward path, while there are others that aren’t as linear. They can easily introduce new hazards down the line. As for map layout, they are actually able to position the repetitive map hazards in surprisingly unique ways. In terms of map visuals, the graphics of the maps have room for improvement, though I guess they had to balance between maps and BB/BL effects. I try to circumvent it by keeping my finger on the center part of the left side of the screen, so that my finger doesn’t accidentally slide down to the “Interact with this Object” button. That said, aside from having them in your party, there are other ways to increase resonance, though that requires… A lot of RNG farming.ĭuring gameplay, the controls, particularly the directional pad, can be clunky at times due to the “Interact with this Object” button being on the same side as the directional pad. Higher resonance leads to longer summoning time, and you also get to unlock special rewards, such as ascension materials. The more you use the unit, the more your resonance with the unit increases. Resonance is a new mechanic each unit has. If the game were in English, I’d probably play around with it more. Skill Fragments, with its inventory-Tetris mechanics, replaces Leader Skills, and allows you to customize the buffs your team gets. Certain characters work well as Leader (like Lucina), other characters work well as a Sub (like Lava), and some characters can work well in either role (like Sefia). Altema JP already has a page where they discuss team synergies. Your Leader serves as your Main DPS, and then you call upon your sub-units to serve as either Sub-DPS or Support. Squad building feels fascinating because it feels like Genshin Impact. ![]() This is true with later quests, where the recommended level for Depth 4, Area 2’s final boss was 70. Having your 4 sub-units get KO’d has no other penalty aside from a longer cooldown, so having a high-level Leader helps with survivability. The game is configured such that you fail a quest if your player-controlled Leader gets KO’d. Metal Ghosts are scarce in the early game, so I gave most of my resources to Lucina. This was the one quest where I mostly used Lucina alone, popping the occasional Elimo BL for healing. ![]() (That said, getting Sefia made charging up BB and FBB a bit faster.) I also adopted the habit of desummoning my sub-units early before their summoning time is used up, since using up the full time locks them into a hard cooldown, while desummoning them early allows me to resummon them earlier.ĭepth 4, Area 2’s boss has easily telegraphed attacks (except for one), but because they hit hard, my Lv15 sub-units can’t really stay on the field for too long to keep the Brave Links up. I’d then save my Final Brave Burst for the final mobs of the quest. In later maps, I found myself trying to aggro mobs into safer areas with no hazards, then bursting with Brave Links. Later maps get filled with more hazards (Here’s looking at you, electro-fences and Mimics who have now learned to stay still), and tankier mobs start showing up. Though I say I went through the story quickly, there are some caveats. This was the team I had when I cleared the boss from Depth 4, Area 2: (Instead, there is an item called Brave Energy that you can choose to use in order to get additional rewards.) I was able to go through it quickly because by default, no energy is spent when entering a quest. So far, I was able to clear the 10 areas that are currently available in story mode.
